Identification A.

A white crystalline precipitate is produced

Identification B.

Gives the reaction of sodium salts and reactions B and C of benzoates.

Appearance of solution

Solution is clear

Acidity or alkalinity

 Not more than 0.2 ml of 0.1m Hydrochloric acid or 0.2ml of 0.1 m sodium Hydroxide is required to change the  color of the solution

Arsenic

 Maximum 2ppm

Heavy Metals

Maximum 20ppm

Chlorinated compounds

The filtrate complies with the limit test

For chlorides.

Loss on Drying

Not more than 2.0% per cent

Assay 

Not less than 99.0 %and not more than  100.5 %
